Peter Morris is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sidra Medical and Research Center. He joined Sidra in January 2016. Peter joined Sidra with over twenty years’ experience in CEO and board level appointments in academic medical centers in the UK. As CEO of one of London’s leading teaching hospital groups, Barts and The London NHS Trust and later Barts Health NHS Trust over a period of more than six years, Peter’s leadership spanned a period of unprecedented growth and development, opening three new hospitals and centers of excellence in the Capital, including the new Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel in London’s East End, the new hospital at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in the City and the Dental Hospital also in Whitechapel. The new hospital at St Bartholomew’s includes Barts Heart Centre which brought together in 2015 the adult heart services from The London Chest Hospital, Bethnal Green, The National Heart Hospital, Bloomsbury and from St Bartholomew’s Hospital itself, and now ranks among the world’s largest specialist cardiac centers. Prior to joining Barts in 2009, Peter was Chief Executive of University Hospitals South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) from 2002. He joined the NHS in 1979 and has held senior management positions in hospitals in Leicester, Cardiff and Sheffield. His first Chief Executive role was at Ipswich Hospitals NHS Trust in 1998. Peter has been awarded a Master of Business Administration from Polytechnic of Central London, a Diploma in Health Services Management from the Institute of Health Services Management, and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from University of Exeter. In 2008, Peter was awarded an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to healthcare.
