Professor Mariam AlMaadeed is the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies at Qatar University. Since 2016, she is leading the research and graduate studies strategies, programs and developments. Prior to that, professor Mariam worked as the director of the Center for Advanced Materials and the founder and Program coordinator of Materials Science and Technology program. She wrote more than 200 peer reviewed publications in international journals and conferences, book chapters, patents and edited four books. Professor Mariam received many grants and led several projects with a number of universities and institutions around the globe, and national and international companies. She has considerable experience and international recognition in the materials and nanotechnology field. She supervised many graduate theses at Qatar University and other international universities. Professor Mariam worked as a consultant and presented several workshops for a variety of organizations including industrial companies and ministries. She chaired several conferences, was invited as a keynote speaker to many international conferences, and was a member of a number committees in the country and abroad. Professor Mariam has also worked as a reviewer for many scientific journals and conferences. Among the awards received, is the State Prize in Physics in 2010, Plastic Eexcellence Award from the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association in 2014, and Leadership Excellence Award for Women from the conference and exhibition of engineering for the Middle East in 2015. She is also a leading member of the Albairaq team, which won the World Innovation Summit for Education Award (WISE) in 2015. In 2016 she received the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in Technology and a special award from Thomson Reuters Award for Excellence in Innovation (Qatar).
