Maria Ester Bernardo

Since June 2017 Dr. Bernardo is a Councilor on the Board of the European Society of Hematology (EHA). She is a member of the Italian Association for Paediatric Haematology and Oncology (AIEOP), the American Society of Haematology (ASH), the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), the European Society for Cell and Gene Therapy (ESGCT) and the EHA. A member of the Editorial Review Board of the journal Bone Marrow Transplantation and reviewer of the following Journals: Blood, Haematologica, PlosOne, Cytotherapy, Cancer Research, Human Gene Therapy, Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, Journal of Translational Medicine, Stem Cell and Development, Stem Cell Reports Dr. Bernardo is the recipient of a project as PI for the Core Grant 2016 Telethon. She has been the recipient of an investigator grant from Associazione Italiana Ricerca sul Cancro (AIRC) in 2009, entitled “Role of human mesenchymal stem cells in tumor angiogenesis”. She received a grant from Ministero della Salute, Bando Giovani Ricercatori 2008 entitled “Mesenchymal stem cells and cancer: toward safer cell-based therapeutic application”. She has been a collaborator in several national and international research project, including a European Union 6th Framework Program project (Allostem 2004-2008:“The development of immunotherapeutic strategies to treat hematological and neoplastic diseases on the basis of optimised allogeneic stem cell transplantation”). She is currently collaborating to the HO2020 project “RETHRIM” (#643580). Dr. Bernardo is the co-author of 81 peer-reviewed articles published in international journals and of 3 book chapters.
