Abdalla Zarroug (MD, FAAP, FACS) is the Division Chief of Fetal Surgery at Sidra Medical and Research Center. As such, he is responsible for leading the fetal surgery unit to ensure delivery of a high standard of patient-focused and transformative surgical care. Dr. Zarroug’s interests include fetal surgery and minimally invasive surgery, specifically in neonates. He also has an in interest in pediatric thoracic surgery, robotic surgery. Dr. Zarroug brings to Sidra more than 14 years’ experience conducting fetal surgery in the USA. Most recently, he was Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Zarroug is actively involved in volunteerism in pediatric surgery. He has led multiple surgical teams into war-torn areas such as Syria, Gaza, the West Bank (Palestine), and Sudan over the past few years. Dr. Zarroug has over 100 scientific publications and presentations in national and international journals and conferences. He is American Board Certified in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery; a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP); a committee member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA) and the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group (IPEG), and is a Vice-President of the Sudanese American Medical Association. Dr. Zarroug received his undergraduate degree at Brown University, and his medical degree from Cornell (Weill) University Medical College. He completed his General Surgery Residency and Research Fellowship at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and his Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at Emory University, Atlanta.
